1930′s HOUSE
All the basics were in place in this 1930’s semi-detached house in south Dublin. Great proportioned rooms with a fine size kitchen and spacious reception rooms. But it was tired and needed freshening up. The brief from the clients was, they wanted a comfortable yet stylish home. Working from the top down the attic had already been converted into a bedroom however the room was extremely cold, we insulated the entire attic space making a huge difference to the heat loss of the entire house, the difference was dramatic.

Both the main bathroom and ensuite were perfect and did not need to be touched apart from a fresh coat of paint. The master bedroom was large enough to accommodate a walk in wardrobe so we re-designed the room to accommodate one. In the other large bedroom we replaced a tired and out of date fitted wardrobe. The colour scheme for the bed rooms was bright but warm using shades of taupe, dove and off white all with a plain carpet
On the ground floor we laid a travertine floor tile from the hall right through the kitchen giving a fantastic sense of space and luxury.
The kitchen cabinets were hand made from solid wood and in perfect working order but the wood was stained a dark teak and was very oppressive. We painstakingly sanded all the surfaces back and then painted them in a stone and duck egg colour. We sourced a beautiful solid oak table and chairs and made some improvments to the lighting, combined these changes created a stunning warm kitchen.
All the reception rooms had good quality hardwood floors which we restored. We sourced some beautiful fabrics, for the formal dining room and for the sunroom overlooking the spectacular south facing garden we used beautiful florals withchenniles and cottons.
